Don't forget to check out my monthly photo blog www.itookphotos.blogspot.com.
At the moment I have been designing the iPad magazines for one of Australia's magazine publishers and I have been interested in seeing what else is out there. To be honest I haven't been too blown away but it has been nice to see Richard Branson pour money into the very first dedicated iPad magazine, even though he is not sure exactly why he is doing it. The magazine called Project is available now and to see a rambling interview of Sir Richard not really selling his mag click here www.spd.org.
Christmas is obviously upon us very soon and my tip if you are looking for any industrial lights/furniture, fantastic vintage high heels and some great old eastern european chunky steel and leather watches go to Salvage 42 in Glebe Sydney. It is a tiny shop but one of the best with a revolving stock with some great prices (if you are very lucky). No website but here they are on google maps www.google.com.au.
And lastly I am really looking forward to the New Year break and getting to eat some of our home grown herbs and veggies. Bring on the Australian summer (I would love this garden in New York though, mine is nothing like this at all). www.theselby.com.
Till next month and next year thanks for taking the time to read , look or whatever you did. Cheers, Josh.

EXHIBITION
The Monster Children Gallery in Sydney is closing down. The promise of bigger things happening next year is great news but sad to see the old girl go. Their last exhibition is this week with an impressive list of artists. I feel privileged to at least have been exhibited in their space. Check it out at
www.monsterchildren.com.
WEBSITE
www.beciorpin.com
I love Beci Orpin's work and it is great to see a nice new website for her work.
JOURNALISM
Photographer Rob Hornstra and writer/filmmaker Arnold van Bruggen have been documenting the area in Russia, Sochi, where the 2014 Olympics will take place and the changes that are, and will happen. They have just released a new book
Empty Land, Promised Land, Forbidden Land and it's great, and with one of the best covers that I have seen in a while. Check it out here www.thesochiproject.org. |
