Welcome to the inaugural issue of my newsletter. With my blog, www.itookphotos.blogspot.com, which is coming up to its third year, I have never written any text on it, bar links etc, as its purpose was to get my photographs out into the world and to work through my process and to instigate new ideas and thoughts. So I thought why not make a newsletter and it can have some of my rambling thoughts and interests on it from the previous and the month to come. Sorted!

July has been a big month for me. I have finally finished my portfolio website, my very first one that I have ever designed and coded. Check it out over at www.joshuamonaghan.com.

For the first time in 8 years I went snowboarding again. It was really fun but as I get older the bloody thought of breaking something almost overtakes the fun of it. Luckily I did get over it as the days went on and that grin that you get when you get down the bottom of the run was soon across my face. The weather was not that awesome but the company was, cheers guys!

And is it just me or is there a shit load of video art in Sydney at the moment? Don't know if it has anything to do with the Biennale but why so? I still don't get much of video art though. I do try and I go to a lot of shows but I just don't get it. But I do get True Blood. Season 3 starts off with a genius episode. So many lines could end up as slogans on t-shirts, I'm sure the internet will make that happen, don't you??!!

EXHIBITION
The Disorder Disorder exhibition at the Penrith Lewers Gallery looks like it is going to be great especially that it is in my old hood. Hopefully it will be as it has some really impressive names attached to it, Ed Templeton, Kill Pixie, Espo, Stefan Marx!!!

I can not believe that the Australian band The Paradise Motel have got back together and released a new album. AWESOME!!!. A close second would be the promos for the new Grinderman 2 album. www.grinderman.com
